◆ Story set in South Wales - United Kingdom
Seventeen-year-old Ariessy is one of many Seivar sorcerers tasked by their goddess to protect Earth and all non-human animals.
The Seivar are cursed not to reveal their magic to humankind, which puts Ariessy in grave danger when she's asked to teach conservation workshops to human children ... and work closely with Hale Torben, an attractive volunteer.
Throughout her life, Ariessy's nan, Isobel, warned her to stay away from the Vald, the wolf-shifters who uphold laws protecting humanity from supernatural races, because she is afraid that Ariessy will discover a secret. But when Isobel finds a forbidden spell book, Ariessy is trapped between the authorities and the wolves she's always feared.
She must learn to accept her weakness, as well as her power - if she is going to survive.
No one is who they seem, and as danger threatens, Ariessy's life hangs in the balance; her secret will either save her…or kill her.

"I do enjoy a good fantasy adventure. I like them fast-paced with plenty of twists and packed full of compelling characters. And I’m happy to report, Ariessy of Midgard ticks every box. L B Arthur's writing is descriptive but never overly so. She also understands pacing and how to develop characters through speech. Overall, this is a thrilling story, and I ́d happily recommend it to young adults who enjoy skillfully plotted fantasy novels populated with fully formed characters - and plenty of problems for the protagonist to solve! I suspect this is the beginning of a set of books; if it is, then I ́m very much Looking forward to reading the second book."
The Wishing Shelf
"At the start of the book, it seems like the story might be a little similar to Harry Potter, but it quickly turns into a fantastic combination of magic and mythology. The beauty of the Welsh countryside provides a captivating setting for the intrigue of Norse legends as Essy’s preconceptions are challenged and changed with an alarming quickness. There is an alluring romantic aspect woven throughout this novel as well. Ariessy’s is an emotive and engaging character who is headstrong and intelligent. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the story and had a hard time putting it down. The blend of existing mythology and the magic system created by Arthur make for a riveting story."

"I really loved this book. It normally takes me a long time to read a book as get easily distracted but this was a nice easy book to read. There aren’t too many characters that it becomes confusing as I find often happens with fantasy style books. The heroine, Ariessy, is a well-rounded very likeable teenager who’s older than her years but also has a very venerable side to her, I felt like I knew her personally. The story line is intriguing and I like that it’s a mixture of fantasy but at the same time quite real. All in all it’s very deserving of 5 stars."

Lena grew up in Warwickshire, UK, in the 1980s and spent much of her youth in Stratford-Upon-Avon, watching plays at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. She has always enjoyed story-telling and urban fantasy, but it wasn't until much later while raising her children, that she became particularly interested in writing herself and her Swedish roots, in particular, drew her to Old Norse myths and legends.
