To any casual observer, Ariessy appears as a typical young woman nearing her 18th birthday. But, Ariessy is a Seiva, a magical being bound by an age-old duty to safeguard Mother Earth, and this duty comes with a curse that compels them to conceal their powers from the human world.
Ariessy is a student teacher at the Acacia Academy, UK, where she mentors the new generation of Seivar, helping them control their magical gifts. Although she is struggling with unspoken abilities and disabilities that risk exposing her true nature to humanity – which would lead to fatal consequences for her.
As if that weren't enough, her father is very sick and all attempts at healing him have failed. Driven by desperation, Ariessy's nan stumbles upon a risky solution – a forbidden spell book. Soon, Ariessy finds herself entangled between the Seivar Authority and the Vald, Nidavellin wolf-shifters tasked with protecting humans from supernatural forces.
With her life hanging by a thread, the wolves are on the brink of revealing a secret that will shatter her reality and alter her life forever.
"A fast-paced, fantasy adventure with a strong and relatable protagonist. Highly recommended!
I do enjoy a good fantasy adventure. I like them fast-paced with plenty of twists and packed full of compelling characters. And I’m happy to report, Ariessy of Midgard ticks every box.
Overall, this is a thrilling story, and I ́d recommend it to readers who enjoy skilfully plotted fantasy novels populated with fully formed characters - and plenty of problems for the protagonist to solve! I suspect this is the beginning of a set of books, if it is, then I ́m very much Looking forward to reading the second book." - Wishing Shelf

"Ariessy of Midgard is an emotional fantasy adventure story that expertly hits all the right notes for urban fantasy fans looking for a coming-of-age story with a unique blend of Norse mythology to get lost in.
In Ariessy of Midgard, L.B. Arthur weaves an enchanting tale of various ancient races, living their lives on Earth and existing secretly alongside humans. The Seivar and the Verrulfar both serve different purposes, with the former protecting the Earth and non-humans and the later protecting humans from the Seivar. At the start of the book, it seems like the story might be a little similar to Harry Potter, albeit from a student teacher’s point of view, but it quickly turns into a fantastic combination of magic and mythology. The beauty of the Welsh countryside provides a captivating setting for the intrigue of Norse legends as Essy’s preconceptions are challenged and changed with an alarming quickness.
There is an alluring romantic aspect woven throughout this novel, although it’s not the central point of the novel. Ariessy’s is an emotive and engaging character who is headstrong and intelligent. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the story and had a hard time putting it down. The blend of existing mythology and the magic system created by Arthur make for a riveting story."

I really loved this book. It normally takes me along time to read a book as get easily distracted but this was a nice easy book to read. There aren’t too many characters that it becomes confusing as I find often happens with fantasy style books. The heroine, Ariessy, is a well rounded very likeable teenager who’s older than her years but also has a very venerable side to her, I felt like I knew her personally. The story line is intriguing and I like that it’s a mixture of fantasy but at the same time quite real. All in all it’s very deserving of 5 stars. 5-Star review.

This is an excellent book, although it is aimed at a younger age reader/audience, I found this book brilliant and exceptionally well written with a lot of references to Norse mythology and a great story line. There is an in-depth insight into the lead and other characters in the books chapters and I found I couldn't put the book down, always excited and interested to read on to see where the story was going and where the main character Ariessy was heading, what was going to happen next. Also great references and based upon real places in Wales, this book really encourages the readers imagination and you can form a picture of locations and events from within it's chapters. I hope this exciting Author writes another book and I look forward to purchasing it. 5-Star review.

Yes.
Yes, but the love interest storyline is a heterosexual one.
LB Arthur grew up in Warwickshire, England and spent much of her youth watching plays at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
Having graduated from the accredited Birmingham School of Speech Training and Dramatic Art, she worked in television before moving on to communications at New Scotland Yard. But she will tell you that her proudest achievement has been in raising her two boys, one of whom has gone on to write his own book - The Secrets of My Spectrum, a book about being autistic which has become an Amazon best seller.
Arthur has always loved contemporary fantasy but it was her British/Swedish heritage that inspired her to create a brand new universe based on Norse mythology.
