"I wrote The Secrets of My Spectrum when I was 16 to share what it’s really like to live with autism from the inside out. So often, autism is described by people looking in from the outside, but this is my chance to show you the world as I see it. It’s a journey through my life – from my earliest memories of trying to fit in to figuring out how to make sense of the world and the small victories that keep me going.
This book is for anyone wanting to understand autism better – whether you’re on the spectrum yourself, have a loved one who is, or simply wish to learn more. The Secrets of My Spectrum is here to help people see autism as part of who we are, not just a label. I hope that it brings comfort, a few laughs, and, most of all, understanding.
It’s my story, but it’s also the story of so many others. I want people to know it’s perfectly okay to be different and that there’s strength in embracing who you are. I really hope you’ll find it helpful. I’ve included notes pages at the end of each chapter so you can jot down your own reflections – these can even be useful later on for autism assessments or when filling in forms.
~ Callum."

I got this book after hearing about it on social media. I have been reading it every night with my 7-year-old, who is autistic, specifically Pathological demand avoidance. He has found it very reassuring that other children have felt the same as him and I find it invaluable to understand how he views the world. As he grows into a teenager it will really help him. Great book."
I have never read a whole book in my life, this was delivered today and I have finished it already, the lists of things that help Callum are really useful and already has me looking at things that could help my son who is 14 and was diagnosed ASD at 9. This really helps see things from his point of view to help understand some things he struggles with too, and has already got me thinking about possible triggers he will have for GCSE exams and college interviews etc. brilliant book that is going to help many people understand autism more and help children with autism know they are not alone with not enjoying certain things that others seem to. Really loved this book and will be passing around the family to read and recommending to friends. "
What's an absolutely fantastic book easy to read and to understand it really did open my eyes on what it's like to have autism and how they have now they see the world. Its helped me understand how my little one may be feeling, woth him being on the ASD spectrum, I thought this book would be really good for him to read when he is older. So he can understand there are others out there like him and he's not alone. Callum Knight you should be so proud off your self for writing this book. "
Currently awaiting an official autism diagnosis for my 13 year old. I can relate to 99% of everything in this book and wish it was something I could have read years ago. I have been pushing for help for about 6 years now for my child but was always told she was a smart, very shy, over-thinker. Nearly everything Callum has talked about has happened/does happen and affect my child daily. This book should be on the reading lists for all teachers and GPs."
I bought this, as my 6 year old grandson has high functioning autism and ADHD. I have read quite a lot, so that I can be more useful in supporting him.
This book was written in plain English, and very much from the perspective of actual personal situations. At the end of each section there is a page on what would have helped.
I have been recommending this book to others who I feel may benefit and I know it has helped me immensely. "
A fantastic read of how having autism has been a challenge for Callum, but at the same time his determination to make the best of his life given his neurological differences. I encourage everyone to read this to gain an insight into how people with autism live everyday and feel we can all learn to be more understanding and accommodating to all neurodivergent people. "
Callum Knight, from picturesque Kent, UK, is all about raising autism awareness—starting with his debut memoir, The Secrets of My Spectrum, which he impressively published at just 16. Why? To help kids like him and their parents and to give the world a bit more insight into life on the spectrum.
The book idea was born during chats with his mum, who was deep in the trenches of her own fantasy novel at the time. Since then, the dynamic duo has teamed up on children’s picture books (two and counting), with Callum taking charge of formatting and making the books dyslexic-friendly.
When Callum’s not writing, you’ll probably find him detailing cars (his ultimate zen activity). Social media may not be his natural habitat, but he’s genuinely grateful for all the love from readers and tries his best to keep up with messages. Right now, he’s busy crafting the sequel to The Secrets of My Spectrum—stay tuned!

These books, written by autistic author Callum Knight and L.B. Arthur, feature vibrant pictures and teach about Daniel and his autism differences. They promote autism acceptance and understanding while highlighting Daniel's challenges.
There’s also a fun Spot the Difference and a colouring activity at the end.
The book is easy for dyslexic readers and is a fun read for autistic and non-autistic children.
Age depends on each individual child. Generally, it's suitable for children 4+ but a lot of our readers are autistic children who are much older and are looking for easy stories they can relate to.
