At just 16 years old, Callum Knight wrote the highly praised The Secrets of My Spectrum, a heartfelt and honest look at life through the eyes of an autistic child and teen. Now, in partnership with L.B. Arthur, Callum has helped create a beautiful range of children’s books inspired by his own experiences — all designed to promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion. What makes these books truly unique is their purposefully designed layout, personally created by Callum. As a child, Callum often felt overwhelmed by busy, cluttered pages — so he created a reading experience that feels safe and manageable. Each page is intentionally simple:
This design allows the child and adult to sit side-by-side, each focusing on one clear element at a time — promoting connection, calm, and comprehension.
These stories are ideal for children aged 4 and up, but we’ve found that many older autistic children also love them, especially those looking for simple, honest stories they can connect with. Ages 4-12 (approx)
Available in Paperback and Hardback.

I find myself reflecting back and wishing I had this book when I was starting out as a parent years ago!
This book is beautifully and thoughtfully illustrated, perfect to capture a child's attention. It could easily be used as a social story to create coping stategies and to avoid those triggers that lead to meltdowns.
Callum captures the essence of the challenges of being autistic and going to a noisy Fireworks display.
He covers many scenarios, and those all important headphones are a must.
I Iike the way this visit to the firewok display is managed by all of the family, the father reminding him of the noise and cold, so warm jacket needed.
Things don't go to plan as they are caught in a traffic jam. One again Daniel's sister manages to distract him by playing his favourite Cartoon on her phone.
The power of distraction and being prepared for the trip, clearly demonstrates how triggers that cause meltdowns can be easily avoided.
Callum deals with the unexpected accidents, like Daniel dropping the candy floss and uses distraction techniques again.
Then at the end it is all too cold, noisy and ovewhelming for Daniel, who is now close to meltdown.
He is spotted by a coach driver who lets Daniel sit in the coach and watch the fireworks in the warm and in relative quiet, as he gazes through the large window.
It just goes to show how greater awareness and acceptance of autism by society can really make a difference to the quality of our lives.
All schools, libraries, parents, professionals should keep a copy of this book.
A great resource for the community, and such an informative and supportive resource for parents to avoid meltdowns in public.
Thank you again Callum, I have enjoyed reading a three of your books and you should be very proud of your acheivents all round.

Book title: 'On The Bus' (An Autism Story)
Author: Callum Knight (& L.B. Arthur)
Illustrated by: Andrew Painter
Published by: Frami Books 2024
(5 Star Review)
As a parent of two boys, one on the spectrum, I instantly related to the content of this book, as years ago this is the very book I needed, when my son was having meltdowns on the bus and it became a nightmare.
Buses can be a minefield for autistic children, packed full of noisy people, often no seats and full of sensory overload.
The book is beautifully illustrated, colourful & glossy, a visual presentation that is bound to capture the imagination of any child and parent.
This book is proof of the importance of social stories, breaking things down and applying coping strategies to avoid those triggers that lead to meltdowns.
Callum captures the essence of the challenges involved from the moment his mum sets a timer to allow him time to finish playing with his toys.
Body temperature and regulation are discussed through his yellow jacket. Then the art of distraction by his mum to make it fun.
Meltdowns and bad weather, even diffusing judgment from the public, are all included.
Behaviours and sensory overload are covered, using strong perfume, which is a very common problem for many.
The power of distractions to avoid meltdown triggers, use of headphones, Callum covers it all so well.
This book is a must for all parents, professionals, schools, libraries, children's hospitals, therapists tools and waiting rooms.
This is the book I wish I had all those years ago, a treasure trove of lived experience, coping strategies, all conveyed in such a user friendly way.
Thank you, Callum, and once again, another brilliant book that I strongly recommend to the community.
